TERAPIA DICLOFENAC 50MG/G GEL 45G

Composition

The active substance is diclofenac sodium. One gram of gel contains 50 mg of diclofenac sodium. The other ingredients are: hydroxyethylcellulose, propylene glycol, 96% ethyl alcohol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), purified water.

Therapeutic indications

Diclofenac Terapia contains the active substance diclofenac which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is specially designed to be absorbed through the skin by massaging it in.

Diclofenac Terapia is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling in painful conditions affecting the joints and muscles.

It can be used to treat the following conditions:

Adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over:

• Injuries to joints and muscles (e.g. sprains, strains, bruises, backache, sports injuries).
• Tendonitis (e.g. tennis elbow)

Adults only (aged 18 years and over):

• Mild arthritis of the knees or fingers

Contraindications/Warnings

Before using Diclofenac Terapia gel, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

• DO NOT apply Diclofenac Terapia gel to mucous membranes, especially to the eyes. If this happens, rinse your eyes thoroughly with plenty of water and talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
• DO NOT apply Diclofenac Terapia gel if you have broken skin, open wounds or on skin that is infected or eczematous.
• If you develop a skin rash after applying Diclofenac Terapia gel, stop using it immediately.
• DO NOT apply Diclofenac Terapia gel over large areas of skin for a long time, because the occurrence of general side effects, known for oral forms of diclofenac, cannot be excluded.
• If you use Diclofenac Terapia gel for a long time: you should wear gloves when applying the gel

Dosage and method of administration

Always use exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

For adults and adolescents over 14 years of age:

Diclofenac Terapia gel is for use on the skin. Apply Diclofenac Terapia gel 3 or 4 times a day to the painful area.

Do not use Diclofenac Terapia for more than:

Adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over

• 2 weeks for injuries to joints and muscles (e.g. sprains, strains, bruises) or tendonitis

Adults only (18 years and over):

• 3 weeks for pain associated with arthritis

Longer treatment may be recommended by a doctor.

If the pain or inflammation persists for 7 days or gets worse, talk to your doctor.

Special warnings

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Diclofenac Terapia gel should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, because it may affect the unborn baby or cause problems during delivery. Diclofenac Terapia gel should only be used on the advice of a doctor during the first 6 months of pregnancy and the dose should be kept as low and the duration of treatment as short as possible.

During breast-feeding Diclofenac Terapia gel should only be used on the advice of a doctor, because diclofenac passes in small amounts into breast milk. However, Diclofenac Terapia gel should not be applied to the breasts by nursing mothers, or elsewhere on large areas of skin or for a prolonged period.

Driving and using machines

Diclofenac Terapia gel has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Packaging

The medicine is available in boxes with an Al tube containing 45 g of gel.
