About the producer
Corona was first produced in 1925, just 7 years after the end of the Great War, at the "Cervecería Modelo" (Grupo Modelo) company in Mexico City, to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The first original Corona beer was of German origin, as German immigrants represented the majority of beer producers at that time. A year after Corona was founded, Grupo Modelo debated how to preserve Corona, thinking of using "dark bottles to preserve and improve the beer's aroma". Eventually, Grupo Modelo came to use clear, transparent bottles, and the unique shape of the bottle has become an ever-growing legendary symbol for the brand. A decade after the launch of the initial version, a variant of Corona called "Corona Extra" earned its name as one of the best-selling beers in Mexico, mainly due to the marketing strategy of combining the beer with a tropical beach.
