Kumasi Drinks uses the succulent pulp of the cocoa fruit, which is usually wasted, and transforms it into natural juice. This upcycling process reduces food waste and provides farmers with additional income. The drinks are 100% natural, with no added sugar and a unique tropical taste.

This product is part of our upcycled food category, made from raw materials that would otherwise have been wasted. Upcycling transforms by-products or surplus into high-quality products, thereby reducing the amount of food waste and helping the planet. In this product, an ingredient has been given a second chance to shine and has shown that every sip can count. About the producer
The idea for Kumasi emerged during the making of a documentary about the cocoa industry. Founder Lars Gierveld observed that cocoa farmers often live in poverty and, together with some farmers he followed, devised a special plan to "think outside the beans." They ended up on a crazy adventure full of juice, sweat, and tears.

Although we started experimenting with a small group of farmers during the documentary, Kumasi now works with over 400 farmers who now earn up to 30% additional income per kg of cocoa from their harvest. In 2021, we introduced cocoa fruits to the Dutch market in our soft drinks.
