About the producer
Lurpak®, the name we all know and love, replaced the name "Danish Lurmark Butter" in 1957. Since Denmark began inviting other countries to taste its local butter, it has remained a benchmark ingredient in kitchens around the world.
From fried and baked goods to roasts and its use as a spread, Lurpak® is now sold in over 95 countries and is supported by a growing number of local fans who deserve the best premium butter and nothing less.
When it comes to creating the subtle taste of Lurpak® butter, we combine traditional methods with state-of-the-art technology.
Lurpak® is a butter made from milk, with a pale yellow color. The process begins with approx. 20 kg of whole milk from which 1 kg of butter is obtained. The most valuable and aromatic part of the milk - the cream - is carefully collected before being used in the butter making process. Lactic cultures are then added, which give a slightly aromatic and fresh note with the unmatched creaminess that creates the unique taste of Lurpak®. This is the process of making butter. Nothing else needs to be added, except for a small amount of salt for our lightly salted butter varieties.
