During Prohibition, bottles were designed to be square so that American salesmen could hide a bottle or two in their briefcases, without them rolling around and making noise if inspectors came to check.

The distinct, unusual shape of the iconic Finest bottle is still used today, but you shouldn't hide it in your briefcase anymore!
