Composition.

The active substance is minoxidil. Each gram of cutaneous foam contains 50 mg minoxidil. - The other ingredients are: anhydrous ethanol, purified water, butylhydroxytoluene (E321), lactic acid, anhydrous citric acid, glycerol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60 and propane/butane/isobutane (propellant gas).

Therapeutic indications.

Regaine contains minoxidil. Minoxidil helps hair regrow and stabilises hair loss in men with receding hairlines and crown hair loss by revitalising hair follicles.

Regaine is used to treat hereditary hair loss in men (also called androgenetic alopecia). It is to be used on the scalp (head) only.

Dosage and method of administration.

Use Regaine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Use this foam twice a day to achieve and maintain the desired hair regrowth. This foam is for use on normal, healthy scalps only. It should NOT be used on inflamed, infected, irritated or painful areas of the scalp. Do NOT apply to any other part of the body.

Make sure you apply the foam directly to your scalp. Avoid contact with your eyes. If foam gets in your eyes, rinse your eyes immediately with plenty of cold water.

Your hair and scalp should be dry.

Apply a 1 g dose (equivalent to half a capful) to the hair loss area twice a day.

It will take time for hair to regrow. You may see results after 2 months of twice daily use. Some men may need to use this medicine for at least 4 months before they see results.

Precautions.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Regaine if you:

- have heart disease including abnormal heart rhythm or heart beat, angina or chest pain and/or circulatory problems.

When absorbed into the bloodstream, minoxidil can cause some side effects related to lowering of blood pressure, such as chest pain, rapid heart beat, tiredness, dizziness, unexplained sudden weight gain or swelling of your hands and feet. If you experience any of these side effects, stop using this medicine immediately and see your doctor.

Changes in hair colour and texture have occurred in some patients using this medicine.

Special warnings.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility

Regaine is not for use by women. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy, breast-feeding or if you are trying to conceive.

Driving and using machines

Regaine may cause dizziness or low blood pressure. If you experience these side effects, do not drive or operate machinery.
