Therapeutic indications.
Exoderil is a medicine used against fungi, used on the skin.
It is recommended for the treatment of the following infections:
- fungal infections of the skin or skin folds (tinea corporis, tinea inghinalis);
- fungal infections of the foot, especially at the interdigital level, at the level of the sole and at the level of the nails (onychomycosis);
- fungal infections of the hand, located at the interdigital level and at the level of the nails (onychomycosis);
- skin infections with Candida;
- Pityriasis versicolor;
- inflammatory dermatomycosis (with or without itching).
Exoderil has, in addition to the antifungal effect, an antibacterial activity against various gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, which can often appear associated with fungal infections.
In addition, during clinical use, an anti-inflammatory effect appears; this effect leads to a rapid improvement of the inflammatory signs, in particular itching
Dosage and method of administration.
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Exoderil is used once a day, in a thin layer, on the affected area of skin (previously cleaned and dried) and massaged gently.
Even if the symptoms of the skin infection (itching, burning) have disappeared quickly, it is important to continue treatment for another two weeks after the symptoms of the infection have disappeared, to ensure a permanent cure of the fungal infections.
Before or during the treatment of nail infections, the affected nail should be cut as short as possible and its surface protected. Fungal nail infections should be treated for several months, until another nail has grown.
In order to cure the fungal infection (mycosis) as soon as possible, please consider the following aspects:
1. Microbes can adhere to the textile material, making contact with the infected skin area. Therefore, it is necessary to change clothes daily.
2. Normal and particularly dry skin provides good protection against fungal infections. It is recommended to avoid covering the infected skin area with tight clothing or clothing that allows limited ventilation or that does not allow ventilation (e.g. tights made of artificial textile fibres worn in tight shoes). Also, after washing, the infected area should be dried thoroughly. Any towels or clothing should be changed daily.
3. In the case of athlete's foot, you should not walk barefoot at home, in the bathroom or, for example, in a hotel. This is the way to prevent re-infection and to prevent the further spread of pathogenic microbes.
4. Sauna or steam baths should only be used after the fungal infection has been definitively cured.
Precautions.
Exoderil should not come into contact with the eyes.
Special warnings.
