Since there are no controlled studies in pregnant women, the administration of furazolidone during pregnancy is not recommended. Administration in the last trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated due to the risk of hemolytic anemia in the fetus.
It is not known whether furazolidone is excreted in breast milk. Therefore, in breastfeeding women, either discontinuation of treatment or discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered. Administration to women breastfeeding infants younger than 1 month is contraindicated due to the risk of hemolytic anemia in the infant.
