The Laurent Perrier House was created in 1812 by André Michel Pierlot, who left the business in the care of Eugen Laurent and his wife Mathilde Perrier. In the 1940s the business was sold to Mrs. Lanson de Nancourt, and in 1948, Bernard, her eldest son, received one of the most important positions in the company and thus began the expansion and modernization of the Laurent Perrier house. In the 1950s, Laurent Perrier was one of the first producers to use steel tanks and low-temperature fermentation. These conditions have been respected for 70 years, with modern technology and rules specific to the Laurent Perrier style. La Cuvee Brut is produced in Tour sur Marne, Champagne region, from Chardonnay varieties (over 50%), Pinot Noir (over 30%), Pinot Meunier (between 10-20%), and reserve wines, in a proportion of 20-30%.
