About the producer
LEERDAMMER ® was born in 1974. But its story begins much earlier. In 1914, the Dutch entrepreneur Cees Boterkooper acquired a small dairy factory in the town of Leerdam. At the same time, the merchant Bastiaan Baars had a small dairy in a neighboring town.
In 1970 their paths crossed. Both wanted a greater variety in the range of cheeses, so they decided to produce together a new assortment of cheese. This was a combination of the delicate aroma of Gouda cheese and the large holes of Emmental. Thus LEERDAMMER® appeared, which was named after the city of Leerdam. Today LEERDAMMER® is the leader in the sliced cheese segment in Western Europe and is available in several varieties and flavors.
