It is said that this mango has borrowed the aroma of daffodils, even though it obviously grows in completely different climatic conditions...
Mango sticky rice is Thailand's iconic dessert, and Nam Dok Mai plays the main role in the recipe.
Nam Dok Mai (meaning 'sweet flower juice') is the most renowned mango variety in Thailand, due to the fruit's sweetness - a brix (sugar level) superior to any other variety. When fully ripe, small dots of sweet substance appear on the skin.
Nam Dok Mai mango fruits are also the largest among all Thai mango varieties, each generally weighing between 250 and 550 grams (while other varieties rarely reach 250 - 300 grams). Another difference from other varieties: the color of the skin, golden-yellow, as opposed to green or orange-red. Nam Dok Mai mango fruits are the least fibrous of all mango varieties, with a rather creamy texture, and yes: it can be eaten with a spoon!
Among the best mango varieties in the world! A naturally ripened mango (tree ripe), transported from Thailand to Europe by air.
A treat!
