Description
Triferment Forte is used in children and adults with "exocrine pancreatic insufficiency". This occurs when the pancreas does not secrete enough enzymes to digest food.
It is common in people with:
-cystic fibrosis
-chronic pancreatitis of any origin (such as alcohol-induced, traumatic, autoimmune, hereditary, tropical calcification, idiopathic, or drug-induced)
-pancreatic surgery
-partial or total resection of the pancreas or pancreatoduodenectomy
-pancreatic cancer
-after gastrointestinal bypass surgery (for example, Billroth II gastroenteroanastomosis);
-accelerated intestinal transit in the case of gastric resection (gastrectomy) or small intestine resection
-consumption of hard-to-digest vegetables, foods rich in fat or foods that the stomach is not used to, causing nutrient absorption deficiencies, bloating, flatulence, or accelerated intestinal transit
-in certain cases of dyspepsia
-in some hepatobiliary diseases characterized by obstruction of the pancreatic ducts or the common bile duct (for example, in neoplasms or recurrent biliary lithiasis)
-celiac disease
-inflammatory bowel diseases (for example, Crohn's disease)
-diabetes mellitus
