Sebahat Turkish Delight

Tradition says that Turkish delight should be served after coffee, accompanied by a glass of cold water.

Experience one of the most appreciated desserts of oriental cuisine! Turkish Delight has gained fame both in our country and in the Balkan neighborhoods, and even further, in Algeria and Morocco.

Its consistency is similar to jelly but more solid, more sticky and more opaque. Due to its high sugar content, it is much sweeter than most sweets, closer in taste to sherbet and not to jelly.

If we were to follow the tradition of the Balkan region, this product should be served after coffee, accompanied by a glass of cold water, but unfortunately, tradition is rarely respected nowadays. Today it is used more in the composition of cozonac, rather than as a symbol of hospitality for guests.

If you have visited Turkey, then you know that the famous lokum is what we call rahat in Romania and you know equally well that the variety of this dessert is unimaginable compared to what is found in the stores in our country.

Initially, this dessert was available only in three colors, respectively three flavors: red - rose water, yellow - lemon peel and green - bitter orange. Today, given the variety of ingredients used, there are numerous flavors, from those of pistachio, hazelnuts, almonds or coconut, to fruit flavors such as sour cherries, strawberries, oranges, apricots, or lemon, making this dessert one of the most colorful in Turkey.
