Description
Composition.
The active substances are tribenoside and lidocaine. One suppository contains tribenoside 400 mg and lidocaine 40 mg. The other components are: semi-synthetic solid glycerides no.1 (Witepsol E85) and semi-synthetic solid glycerides no.2 (Witepsol W35).
Therapeutic indications.
The active substances contained in Procto-Glyvenol are tribenoside and lidocaine.
Procto-Glyvenol is used for the local treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are inflammations of the veins in the rectal or anal area that cause local pain, burning, and itching.
Tribenoside acts locally on the causes of inflammation in small blood vessels. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that quickly relieves itching, burning, and pain caused by hemorrhoids.
Dosage and administration.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
When symptoms are acute
Use one suppository twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening).
When symptoms have subsided
Use one suppository once a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
You should use Procto-Glyvenol until symptoms subside. If symptoms persist for more than one week, you should consult a doctor.
Precautions.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Procto-Glyvenol if you suffer from liver conditions.
Special warnings.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. You should not use Procto-Glyvenol during the first 3 months of pregnancy. You may use Procto-Glyvenol from the 4th month of pregnancy or when breastfeeding, but only on your doctor's recommendation; do not exceed the recommended dose.
Driving and operating machinery
Procto-Glyvenol does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
