Caldefix effervescent tablets from Casen Recordati are designed to treat calcium and vitamin D3 deficiencies, making them a great support for osteoporosis treatment. Description
Composition. The active substances are calcium and cholecalciferol. Each effervescent tablet contains 1000 mg calcium as 2500 mg calcium carbonate and 880 IU cholecalciferol. The other components are: alpha-tocopherol, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, bovine gelatin hydrolysate, sugar, corn starch, anhydrous citric acid, sodium hydrogen carbonate, lactose monohydrate, povidone K 25, sodium saccharin, sodium cyclamate, macrogol 6000, orange juice flavor Permaseal no. 74016-71 (contains: acetaldehyde, dodecan-1-ol, ethyl butyrate, juniper fruit extract, linalool, maltodextrin, orange oil, lemon oil), dry simethicone emulsion (contains: simethicone, methylcellulose 25 mPa.s, methylcellulose 400 mPa.s)
Therapeutic indications.
It is used in:
-treatment of vitamin D and calcium deficiency in the elderly;
-as an adjunct to specific osteoporosis treatment, in patients with combined vitamin D and calcium deficiency or at high risk of developing it.
Dosage and administration.
Always use Caldefix exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is one Caldefix effervescent tablet per day.
The tablets should be dissolved in a glass of water, and the solution should be drunk immediately. Administration should be during or after meals.
Treatment for calcium deficiency and osteoporosis is a long-term treatment. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor based on the therapeutic objective.
Caldefix is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
Precautions.
Do not use Caldefix
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to calcium carbonate, cholecalciferol, soybean or peanut oil, or any of the other ingredients of the medicine;
- if you have higher than normal levels of calcium in your blood and urine;
- if you have higher than normal levels of vitamin D in your body;
- if you have kidney stones.
Special warnings.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Due to the high concentration of vitamin D3, this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
No effects of Caldefix on the ability to drive or use machines are known.
Packaging. It is available in boxes with a polypropylene tube containing 20 effervescent tablets.
