Composition.
Each sachet of powder for oral solution contains 10 g of macrogol 4000.
The other components are: sodium saccharin, orange and grapefruit flavor (contains orange and grapefruit oils, concentrated orange juice, citrate, acetaldehyde, linalool, ethyl butyrate, alpha terpineol, octanal, beta and gamma hexenol, maltodextrin, gum arabic, sorbitol (E 420)).
Therapeutic indications.
Forlax contains macrogol 4000 as an active substance. This medicine is an osmotic laxative recommended for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children over 8 years of age.
Dosage and method of administration.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7 days of treatment, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
For adults and children over 8 years of age
- ¿ 1-2 sachets per day, preferably administered as a single dose in the morning. The dose is adjusted according to needs, ranging from 1 sachet/day (especially in children) to 2 sachets/day.
- ¿ If you take 2 sachets, it is best to take them together in a glass of water.
- ¿ Forlax starts to act within 24-48 hours of administration.
- ¿ When constipation subsides, you can stop taking Forlax.
Administered orally.
Dissolve the contents of the sachet (sachets) in a glass of water and then drink the entire contents of the glass. Precautions.
Cases of allergic reactions involving skin rashes and localized fluid accumulation in the face or neck (angioedema) have been reported during treatment with medicines containing macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Isolated cases of severe allergic reactions, causing fainting or collapse or breathing difficulties and a general feeling of unwellness, have been reported. If you experience any of these symptoms, you must stop taking Forlax and seek immediate medical help.
The treatment of constipation with any medicine is only an adjunct to an appropriate lifestyle and adequate diet. Thus, to prevent and treat constipation:
- your diet should be rich in fiber (fruits, green vegetables, raw vegetables, bread
- wholemeal)
- consume enough water and fruit juice to avoid dehydration
- do physical exercises (sports, walking)
- go to the toilet when there is a need to evacuate the stool (for re-education
- of the defecation reflex)
