FROM A BUTCHER'S SHOP TO A THRIVING INDUSTRY. Always visionary and innovative, Jean CABY was the first in Europe to produce vacuum-packed products in 1951. A small revolution that finally makes it possible to offer fresh products and to remove delicatessen meats from the world of canned food. He also aspires to export his range: he creates a company in Tournay, Belgium, and signs his first contract with Reunion Island. However, the “HOGPORC” brand is difficult to market abroad. It's time to modernize it... Why not give the brand its own name? Thus, the CABY brand appears for the first time in 1952, (still with the pig logo) specializing in cooked hams, Frankfurters, pâté and cooked sausages. In 1955, the Saint-André plant broke the European slaughtering record: 350 pigs per hour! Throughout his life, Jean Caby will continue to develop, innovate and invest, building a thriving industry. In 1966, the founding father died. However: his son Léopold takes over the business. The family saga continues...
