FORLAX 20 SACHETS

Composition.

Each sachet of powder for oral solution contains 10 g of macrogol 4000.

The other ingredients are: sodium saccharin, orange and grapefruit flavour (contains orange and grapefruit oils, concentrated orange juice, citrate, acetaldehyde, linalool, ethyl butyrate, alpha terpineol, octanal, beta and gamma hexenol, maltodextrin, gum arabic, sorbitol (E 420)).

Therapeutic indications.

Forlax contains the active substance macrogol 4000. This medicine is an osmotic laxative recommended for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children aged 8 years and above.

Dosage and method of administration.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

If your symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7 days of treatment, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

For adults and children aged 8 years and above

• ¿ 1-2 sachets per day, preferably taken as a single dose in the morning. The dose can be adjusted according to individual requirements and may vary from 1 sachet/day (particularly in children) to 2 sachets/day.
• ¿ If you are taking 2 sachets, it is best to take them together in one glass of water.
• ¿ Forlax starts to work within 24-48 hours of taking it.
• ¿ Once your constipation has resolved, you can stop taking Forlax.

To be taken orally.

Dissolve the contents of the sachet(s) in a glass of water and then drink the entire contents of the glass. Precautions.

Cases of allergic reactions involving skin rashes and localised fluid accumulation in the face or neck (angioedema) have been reported during treatment with medicines containing macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Isolated cases of severe allergic reactions, causing fainting or collapse or difficulty breathing and a general feeling of being unwell have been reported. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop taking Forlax and seek medical help immediately.

Treatment of constipation with any medicine is only of value as an adjunct to appropriate lifestyle and dietary measures. Thus, to prevent and treat constipation:

- your diet should be rich in fibre (fruit, green vegetables, raw vegetables, wholemeal

- bread)

- drink plenty of water and fruit juice to avoid becoming dehydrated

- take regular exercise (sports, walking)

- go to the toilet when you need to pass a stool (to re-educate the bowel reflex)

Special warnings.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines

Forlax does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.
