Description
Composition
The active substances are calcium and cholecalciferol. One chewable tablet contains 600 mg calcium as 1500 mg calcium carbonate and 400 I.U. cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) (equivalent to 10 micrograms). The other components are: mannitol, povidone, talc, magnesium stearate, aspartame (E 951), anhydrous citric acid, orange flavour, DL ?-tocopherol, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, sucrose (sugar), gelatin and corn starch.
Therapeutic indications
Cal-D-Vita is a medicine that contains a combination of calcium and vitamin D3. Calcium and vitamin D3 are important components in the process of bone mass formation. Vitamin D3 regulates the absorption and conversion of calcium and acts on calcium fixation in the skeleton.
Cal-D-Vita is used in vitamin D and calcium deficiency in the elderly and as an adjuvant therapy to specific treatment for osteoporosis, if a calcium and vitamin D deficiency is present or suspected.
Dosage and administration
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is 1-2 chewable tablets daily. The tablet should be chewed or sucked and not swallowed whole. The medicine is indicated only for adults and children over 12 years of age.
Precautions
Do not use Cal-D-Vita:
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substances or to any of the other components of Cal-D-Vita;
- in case of very high amounts of calcium in the blood and/or in conditions that cause an increase in the amount of calcium in the blood;
- in case of high amounts of calcium in the urine;
- If you have an excess of vitamin D;
- If you have kidney stones;
- If you have kidney disease
Special warnings
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. This combined product with calcium and vitamin D can be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding only on the recommendation of the doctor and in the doses recommended by him. If you are breastfeeding, you can use Cal-D-Vita. Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk. This should be taken into account if your child is given an additional dose of vitamin D.
Driving and using machines
It has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
