Composition.
The active substance is chlorquinaldol. Each dragee contains 100 mg chlorquinaldol. The other components are: corn starch, lactose monohydrate, gelatin, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, pharmaceutical sugar, talc, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide (E171), povidone K30, macrogol 6000, yellow wax, Carnauba wax.
Therapeutic indications.
Saprosan contains an active substance called chlorquinaldol. This belongs to the category of medicines called: antiparasitic products, antiprotozoal preparations, amoebicides and similar, quinolone derivatives, other intestinal anti-infectives.
Saprosan is recommended if you have:
¿ acute gastroenterocolitis ¿ an acute infection of the stomach and intestine,
¿ summer diarrhea,
¿ mild forms of amoebic dysentery,
¿ giardiasis ¿ giardia infection
Dosage and administration.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults: the recommended dose is 100 - 200 mg (1 - 2 Saprosan dragees), administered orally, 3 times a day, unchewed, away from meals. The duration of treatment should not exceed 7 - 10 days in acute conditions and one month in chronic conditions.
If necessary, in chronic conditions, treatment can be repeated after a 10-day break.
Use in children and adolescents
Saprosan should not be administered to children under 6 years of age.
Precautions.
Before taking Saprosan, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
In case of association with other products containing haloquinones (mexaform, mexase, intestopan), 750 mg chlorquinaldol per day should not be exceeded in adults and 400 mg chlorquinaldol per day in children over 6 years of age; these preparations should not be administered in successive courses, and the total cumulative duration of treatment should not exceed one month.
Caution is recommended in patients with hepatic and/or renal insufficiency.
Special warnings.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. As there are no clinical studies to demonstrate possible toxic effects on the fetus or infant, the product is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Driving vehicles and operating machinery
There are no data to demonstrate that the product affects the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.
