Composition.
Active substances are: sodium heparin, allantoin and dexpanthenol. The other components are: carbomer 940, levomenthol, disodium edetate, trolamine, oleum pini pumilionis, oleum pini silvestris, essential lemon oils, liquid sorbitol (non-crystallizable), isopropanol, macrogol 6 glycerol caprylocaprate, polysorbate 80, purified water.
Therapeutic indications.
It is a medicine that contains natural heparin in gel form. In the composition of this medicine, in addition to heparin, allantoin and dexpanthenol have been added. Heparin has an anticoagulant effect by which it prevents the development of thrombi. The absorption of heparin through the skin is very rapid and it is deposited in the granular layer of the epidermis, thus manifesting an exclusively local action. Allantoin and dexpanthenol contribute to epithelialization, granulation and tissue regeneration. The gel base favors the penetration of active components through the skin.
Hepathrombin gel is indicated as an adjuvant in:
- superficial venous thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, phlebitis, pre-varicose syndrome, post-phlebitic syndrome, leg ulcer;
- post-traumatic injuries (hematomas, contusions, dislocations);
- bursitis, tenosynovitis.
Dosage and administration.
Always use Hepathrombin exactly as your doctor has told you. You should discuss with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Treatment begins with Hepathrombin 500 IU/g, and for continuation of treatment and prevention, Hepathrombin 300 IU/g is used.
The gel is applied to the affected skin area and around it, 2-3 times a day and massaged gently. In case of vein inflammation, the area is not massaged, but the medicine is applied in a thin layer on the affected surface, then covered with an occlusive or elastic dressing. In case of varicose ulceration, the gel is applied to the edge of the ulceration, in the form of a 4 cm wide ring. The gel is applied only to intact skin without lesions.
Precautions.
Do not use Hepathrombin
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to sodium heparin, allantoin, dexpanthenol or any of the other components of Hepathrombin;
- if you have a bleeding leg ulcer.
