The Amrut story began in 1948, the year in which Shri J.N. Radhakrishna founded the Amrut laboratory. After producing rum in the 1960s, the first grape distillate was produced in 1970. In 1980, Amrut produced malt distillate for the first time to offer the Indian population quality whisky. The first renowned Indian whisky launched by Amrut was the classic Single Malt, presented to the Scottish public in 2004, in Glasgow, and by 2009 it had been noted by connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
