Composition. The active substance is bromhexine hydrochloride. Each tablet contains bromhexine hydrochloride 8 mg. The other components are: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate and talc.

Therapeutic indications.

Bromhexin Labormed is indicated in acute and chronic respiratory tract conditions, accompanied by viscous secretions.

Bromhexine reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions. The mucus becomes more fluid. Bromhexine has a stimulating effect on bronchial mucus, leading to a more fluid bronchial secretion. Furthermore, the drainage of surfactant substances from the pulmonary and bronchial alveoli is facilitated. Together with the activation of the ciliary epithelium of the bronchial mucosa, these mechanisms maintain and increase the clearance capacity of the pulmonary airways. With its diluting and expectorant action, it facilitates and accelerates the elimination of mucus from the pulmonary alveoli.

It can also be useful pre- and post-operatively in the case of surgical interventions on the lung, respiratory tract or in the oto-rhino-laryngeal (ear-nose-throat) area for the prophylaxis of complications in the respiratory system.

The administration of bromhexine in the case of bronchoradiographies significantly reduces the elimination time of contrast substances and implicitly the unwanted side effects due to them.

If after 7 days you do not feel better or feel worse, you should consult your doctor.

Dosage and administration.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults: the recommended dose is 8-16 mg (1-2 tablets of Bromhexin Labormed 8 mg) 3 times a day. Bromhexine causes a decrease in mucus viscosity, helping to eliminate it, and it is expected that during treatment with bromhexine you will cough and clear sputum more often. Children and adolescents

Children over 10 years: the recommended dose is 4-8 mg (1/2-1 tablet of Bromhexin Labormed 8 mg) 3 times a day.

Children between 5-10 years: the recommended dose is 4 mg (1/2 tablet of Bromhexin Labormed 8 mg) 3 times a day.

For children under 5 years of age, the use of appropriate pharmaceutical forms is recommended.

The duration of treatment should not exceed 8-10 days except under medical supervision.

Precautions.

Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Bromhexin Labormed:

- if you suffer from renal insufficiency and severe liver conditions; - if you have a tendency to suffer from stomach problems;

- if you have asthma; in this case, bromhexine will be associated with bronchodilators.

Cases of serious skin adverse reactions associated with bromhexine administration have been reported. If you experience a skin rash (including lesions of mucous membranes such as: in the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, genitals), stop taking bromhexine and contact your doctor immediately.

Special warnings.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. If you are pregnant, you should avoid taking bromhexine, as there is insufficient data regarding the harmful effects of bromhexine hydrochloride used during pregnancy. Bromhexine hydrochloride is administered in the first trimester of pregnancy only under strict medical indication.

The administration of the product is not recommended during breastfeeding because it is not known whether bromhexine is excreted in breast milk. There is no data to suggest any effect of bromhexine use on fertility. However, the effect of bromhexine on human fertility has not been studied. Driving vehicles and operating machinery

Treatment with Bromhexin Labormed 8 mg does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery. No studies have been conducted with bromhexine regarding the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.
