Therapeutic indications.

Nicorette Freshfruit is used in the treatment of tobacco dependence by relieving nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms that occur after smoking cessation:

- overcoming smoking addiction for smokers who want to quit smoking;

- helping smokers achieve temporary abstinence during periods when smoking is impossible or undesirable;

- helping to reduce cigarette consumption in smokers who are unable or unwilling to quit completely.

Dosage and method of administration.

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Each medicated chewing gum should be chewed slowly for about 30 minutes, with pauses. Nicotine administration should be temporarily suspended if any symptoms of nicotine excess occur.

If symptoms of nicotine excess persist, nicotine intake should be reduced either by decreasing the frequency of administration or by using a lower strength.

Medicated chewing gum should not be administered to individuals under 18 years of age without a doctor's recommendation. There are no controlled clinical data supporting the use of medicated chewing gum in adolescents under 18 years of age.

Which strength of Nicorette Freshfruit medicated chewing gum is recommended to use:

- Nicorette Freshfruit 2 mg medicated chewing gum if you smoke fewer than 20 cigarettes a day or smoke your first cigarette more than 30 minutes after waking up;

- Nicorette Freshfruit 4 mg medicated chewing gum if you smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day or if you have previously failed to quit smoking using Nicorette Freshfruit 2 mg.

Do not exceed the maximum dose.

The number of pieces of gum you can use daily depends on the nicotine craving you feel, but the average dose is 8–12 pieces per day. Do not exceed 24 pieces per day. This dose should be used for a period of up to 3 months, during which time you should break your smoking habits. Generally, using this type of treatment for more than 12 months is not recommended. Some smokers, however, may require longer treatment to avoid resuming smoking.

Precautions.

Before using Nicorette Freshfruit, consult your doctor if:

- you have recently had a major cardiovascular event, such as a heart attack (myocardial infarction) or stroke;

- you have chest pain or worsening chest pain, including Prinzmetal's angina, or severe irregular heartbeats;

- you have uncontrolled high blood pressure; - you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer;

Nicotine is excreted into breast milk in amounts that may harm infants. Do not use Nicorette during breastfeeding. If you cannot quit smoking without using nicotine-containing medicines, use Nicorette only after consulting your doctor.
