Therapeutic indications.
Nicorette Clear is a medicine that helps you quit smoking.
Nicorette Clear is used to treat tobacco dependence, to relieve the urge to smoke (nicotine craving) and nicotine withdrawal symptoms, which helps motivated smokers quit smoking.
When you stop smoking and no longer supply your body with nicotine from tobacco, you may experience unpleasant feelings called withdrawal symptoms. By using Nicorette Clear, you can prevent or reduce these unpleasant feelings - through its use, Nicorette Clear will continue to provide your body with a small amount of nicotine in its pure form, which does not carry the health risks associated with smoking.
The health risks associated with smoking are caused by the toxins contained in tobacco. Counseling and support usually improve the chances of quitting smoking. If possible, use the medicine as part of a smoking cessation program.
If used as recommended, Nicorette Clear will help control your potential weight gain after quitting smoking.
Nicorette Clear should not be used by non-smokers.
Dosage and administration.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Do not exceed the maximum recommended dose. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
You should try your best to completely quit smoking during treatment with Nicorette Clear.
Nicorette Clear patches can be used individually or in combination, either with Nicorette Freshfruit/Icemint 2 mg medicated chewing gum or Nicorette 1mg/ml spray, oropharyngeal spray solution.
The safety and efficacy of the medicine in children and adolescents have not been studied. Nicorette Clear should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Precautions.
Before you start using Nicorette Clear, consult your doctor if:
- you have ever suffered a serious cardiovascular event or have been hospitalized in the last 4 weeks due to abnormal heart conditions (e.g., a heart attack, arrhythmia (heart rhythm disorders), unstable angina pectoris);
- you have had cardiovascular bypass surgery or angioplasty (artery surgery);
- you have high blood pressure that is not controlled by medication;
- you suffer from severe liver/kidney diseases;
- you have diabetes, and you may need to reduce your insulin dose when you quit smoking;
- you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or a tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma);
- you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer.
Unless recommended by a doctor, Nicorette Clear should not be used by patients under 18 years of age.
Special warnings.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any medicine. As smoking can cause serious harm to the fetus or child, you should quit smoking during pregnancy and breastfeeding; if possible, you should do so without using nicotine-containing medicines. Nicotine is excreted in breast milk in amounts that can harm infants. Do not use Nicorette Clear during breastfeeding. If you cannot quit smoking without using nicotine-containing medicines, use Nicorette only after consulting your doctor.
