Composition

Therapeutic indications
ASPIRIN contains acetylsalicylic acid. Acetylsalicylic acid is an analgesic (reduces pain) and antipyretic (reduces fever).
ASPIRIN is used for the symptomatic treatment of fever and/or pain of mild to moderate intensity, such as headache, flu syndrome, toothache, muscle pain. ASPIRIN is specifically indicated in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over (weighing 40 kg or more). For patients weighing less than 40 kg, consult your doctor or pharmacist to recommend other dosage forms containing acetylsalicylic acid.
You should see your doctor if you do not feel better or feel worse after 3 days (in case of fever) or 3-4 days (in case of pain).
Dosage and method of administration
For oral administration only. Take the tablet(s) with a large amount of liquid.
For adults and adolescents (aged 16 years and over)
The recommended single dose is 1 tablet and can be repeated at intervals of at least 4 hours. For more severe pain or higher fever, the recommended single dose is 2 tablets and can be repeated at intervals of at least 4 hours.
The total daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets.
For elderly patients (aged 65 years and over)
The recommended single dose is 1 tablet and can be repeated at intervals of at least 4 hours.
The total daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets.
For adolescents aged 12 to 15 years (weighing 40-50 kg):
The dose depends on the adolescent's body weight; the age specified is for information purposes only.
The recommended single dose is 1 tablet and can be repeated at intervals of at least 4 hours.
The total daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets.
For special patient groups
Patients with liver or kidney function abnormalities or with circulatory problems (eg heart failure or events involving major bleeding): consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Children under 12 years of age (weighing less than 40 kg): not to be used without medical prescription.
Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using ASPIRIN:
- If you are taking other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid, to avoid the risk of overdose.
- If you experience headaches while using aspirin in high doses, for a long period of time, do not increase the dose and consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
- If you regularly use pain relievers, especially several pain relievers at the same time, this can lead to decreased kidney function.
- If you have a g6pd (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency (an inherited disease that affects red blood cells), as acetylsalicylic acid used in high doses can cause hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells).
- If you have had a gastric or intestinal ulcer, gastric or intestinal bleeding or gastritis.
Special warnings
Pregnancy, lactation, fertility
In the first five months of pregnancy, you should seek the advice of your doctor before taking this medicine or other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid. From the sixth month of pregnancy (more than 24 weeks of amenorrhea), you should not take this medicine, as it can cause serious problems for you or your baby.
If you have taken this medicine during pregnancy, consult your doctor immediately.
This medicine can pass into breast milk. As a precaution, ASPIRIN is not recommended during breastfeeding.
The medicine belongs to a group of medicines that can affect fertility in women. This effect is reversible upon discontinuation of treatment.
