A cup of Java or A cup of Joe, as it was known in Europe, is a 100% Arabica coffee with chocolate and raspberry aromas. It is an excellent coffee thanks to the volcanic soil of Mount Ijen, located at 1600 m, where the coffee trees grow, the climate, and the farmers who masterfully process the beans.
We have brought this aroma back to Romania, so you can enjoy a highly aromatic coffee with low acidity, which can also be consumed by people suffering from gastric conditions.
The history of A cup of JAVA
We know that the first coffee seeds were brought to Java in 1696 by a government-sponsored monopoly, the Dutch East India Company, commonly referred to by its Dutch acronym, Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC).
The first attempt to plant coffee failed due to flooding, but Hendrick Zwaardecroon, an ambitious employee with an interest in agriculture, tried again in 1699, this time successfully.
Does the term Java refer to a cup of coffee?
In the 17th century, the Dutch colonized the island of Java, which is now part of Indonesia. They planted espresso coffee plants there and began shipping it to the rest of the world. This was enough for it to become a generic word for coffee.
