Therapeutic indications.
Imodium is indicated for the symptomatic control of acute and chronic diarrhea. Imodium belongs to the group of antidiarrheal, anti-inflammatory/intestinal antiseptic medicines, being an anti-propulsive. In case of diarrhea, Imodium makes stools more consistent and less frequent. You may also be recommended Imodium if part of your intestine has been removed, as this can frequently cause diarrhea.
Dosage and administration.
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The dose of Imodium you should use will depend on your age and the type of diarrhea. Imodium is available as capsules to be swallowed. You can use Imodium at any time of the day. Capsules should be swallowed with a quantity of liquid.
Use in adults (including the elderly), children and adolescents aged between 6 and 17 years

- for long-term (chronic) diarrhea, the exact dose will be determined with your doctor, but do not administer more than 8 Imodium capsules (16 mg loperamide hydrochloride) within 24 hours.
