Boil the penne pasta in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Meanwhile, cut the bacon into cubes and brown it in a spacious pan until crispy.
Add the finely chopped chili pepper (adjust the amount according to your preferred spiciness) and finely sliced shallot. Sauté everything until the shallot turns golden, then add the thinly sliced garlic.
Pour the canned chopped tomatoes over the mixture in the pan, season with salt and pepper to taste. Add a few fresh basil leaves, cover with a lid, and let the sauce simmer over low heat for about 5-7 minutes.
Chef's tip
For an even more intense flavor, you can add a splash of white wine to the sauce before adding the tomatoes. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the pasta cooking water.
