Peel the onion and chop it finely. Peel the carrots and cut them into thin slices, about half a centimeter thick.

Cooking the Soup

Melt the butter in a pot, add the onion and sauté it over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until softened, being careful not to brown it.

Add the carrots, sprinkle with sugar, and slightly increase the heat. Stir for about 5 minutes until the carrots begin to soften.
