Preparing the meat mixture

In a large bowl, mix the minced beef with the minced pork. Add the finely chopped onion, crushed garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, sweet paprika, ground cumin, salt, and pepper.

Knead the mixture well by hand until all ingredients are combined. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add a tablespoon of water or oil.

Form large, flat patties (pljeskavice) about 2 cm thick. If desired, you can place a slice of cheese in the middle of each patty and wrap it with meat.

Chef's tip

For a spicier taste, you can replace sweet paprika with hot paprika or use a spicy ajvar.

Pljeskavica also goes wonderfully in a lepinja bun, with plenty of raw onion.
