Preparation method

If using older bread, cut it into equal cubes of approximately 1-2 cm. If the bread is very hard, use a serrated knife to make the process easier.

In a large bowl, mix the olive oil (or melted butter) with the minced garlic (if using), dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Add the bread cubes and mix well until all are evenly coated with the aromatic mixture.

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the croutons are golden and crispy. Stir them once or twice during baking for even browning.

Chef's tip

Store completely cooled croutons in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their crispy texture for several days.
