Preparing and roasting vegetables
Preheat the oven to 195–200 °C and prepare a baking tray (approximately 25 cm × 30 cm).
Peel the onion and chop it coarsely. Wash the zucchini, bell pepper, and tomatoes, then cut them into large cubes. Peel the carrots and slice them thinly. Place all chopped vegetables in the prepared tray. Peel the garlic cloves and add them to the tray along with the dried basil, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix the contents of the tray well, place it in the oven, and bake for 35–40 minutes at 195–200 °C.
Boiling pasta and finishing the sauce
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil for the pasta. When the water starts to boil, add salt, add the whole wheat pasta, and cook according to package instructions (approximately 13–14 minutes). Before draining the pasta, reserve 100 ml of the cooking water.
