Preparing the Eggs
If you have time, take the eggs out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. The water should be enough to completely cover the eggs. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
Using a spoon, carefully place the eggs into the boiling water and immediately start the timer. Reduce the heat slightly, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let the eggs simmer for exactly 5 minutes. If the eggs are cold from the refrigerator, add an extra minute.
Chef's tip
For a gourmet variation, you can sprinkle a little grated Parmesan over the eggs. You can also add a few thin slices of smoked salmon to the glass before adding the eggs, or decorate with a little caviar for an extra touch of luxury.
