Preparing the cake layers

Prepare two cake pans with a diameter of 25-26 cm. Line the bottom with baking paper, and grease the sides with butter and dust with cocoa. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Sift the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.

In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
Chef's tip
For an even fluffier cake layer, make sure all ingredients (butter, eggs, cream) are at room temperature before starting.
If you want a more rustic look, you can leave the edges of the cake uncovered (naked cake style).
