Preparation method
Ingredients overview
- 1 pc lemon
- 2 tablespoons white apple vinegar
- 400 g granulated white sugar
- 60 g fresh mint (2 large handfuls of leaves)
- 150 ml natural cold-pressed apple juice
- 150 ml sparkling mineral water
- 1 handful ice cubes
- 1 slice lemon or lime for garnish
Preparing the Mint Syrup
Place the lemon in a bowl with water, ensuring it's completely covered, and add two tablespoons of vinegar. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse it well and slice it. Tear the mint leaves and cut them into smaller pieces.
Boil half a liter of water with the sugar and let the mixture cool. After cooling, add the mint and lemon slices. Let it macerate for 12 to 24 hours. Then, strain the syrup through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. Pour it into an airtight bottle and store it in the refrigerator.
Assembling the Drink
Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour 20 ml of the previously prepared mint syrup and natural apple juice into each glass. Top with sparkling mineral water. Stir gently and garnish with a lemon or lime slice and a fresh mint sprig.
Chef's tip
The remaining mint syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and used for other lemonades or cocktails.
