  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 medium shallots (sliced) fresh
  • 2 cloves of garlic (roughly chopped) fresh
  • 200 g of whole grain long-grain rice bag
  • 1 large carrot (approx. 80 g) fresh bulk
  • 150 g of sliced chicken ham (minimum 90% meat)
  • 100 g of fine frozen peas bag
  • 1 pinch of fine iodized table salt
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper sachet
  • 1 l of still water 2L bottle

In a spacious pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes. Then add the rice, sauté for another 1–2 minutes, and pour in the water. Season with salt and pepper, cover with a lid, and simmer for 20–30 minutes, until the rice is cooked. If necessary, add a little more water.

Meanwhile, grate the carrot on a large grater and cut the ham into cubes.

Once the rice is cooked, stir in the peas, ham, and carrot. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer together for another 2 minutes for the flavors to meld.

Chef's tip

For extra flavor, you can replace the water with chicken or vegetable broth. Serve with a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley on top.
