- 1kg of cozonac flour
- Yeast
- Milk
- 5 Eggs
- Sugar
- Chocolate
- Cocoa
- Vanilla essence
Instructions
- 1Sift 1kg of special flour for cozonac, to achieve a fluffier consistency.
- 2Mix 500ml of lukewarm milk with 250g of sugar, then let them cool.
- 3Meanwhile, prepare the starter with fresh yeast, 3 tablespoons of flour, 1 of sugar, and 3 tablespoons of lukewarm milk. Let it rise for 20 minutes.
- 4Add the cooled milk with sugar and the risen starter to the flour, along with 5 beaten egg yolks.
- 5Now, start kneading the dough for approximately 30 minutes. Afterwards, in a warm kitchen, let the dough rise for approx. 40 minutes.
- 6Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal pieces, roll them out, and fill them with whatever you desire: cocoa, chocolate, raisins, or anything else you wish!
- 7Next, shape the 4 dough pieces into rolls and start braiding them 2 by 2.
- 8Place the braids into special trays (lined with baking paper) and brush the dough with milk and egg.
- 9Let them rise again until their volume doubles.
- 10Last step? Bake them for approx. 40 minutes until the cozonac are ready!
