Preparation method
Ingredients overview
- 600 g puff pastry
- 200 g prosciutto crudo
- 100 g Emmental cheese slices
- 100 g pesto rosso
- 3 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1 egg size M
- 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
Divide the puff pastry into two equal parts and roll them out. Cut each part into squares of decreasing size (from large to small) to form the Christmas tree structure. From 300 g of dough, you should get sets of squares for 4 Christmas trees. On each dough square, except for the smallest one at the top, place a piece of prosciutto, a slice of cheese, and a little pesto rosso. Stack the squares one on top of the other, rotating them slightly to create the branch-like appearance, and secure them in the center with a long toothpick or a skewer.
Brush the Christmas trees with the beaten egg and sprinkle with white sesame seeds. Bake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 25-30 minutes, until golden and crispy. After they have cooled slightly, remove the securing stick (if desired) and decorate with fresh thyme leaves.
Chef's tip
For an even more festive look, you can use a star cut from cheese or bell pepper to decorate the top of each Christmas tree.
