Omurice este un preparat iconic de street food japonez: orez prăjit aromat cu bucățele fragede de pui și ketchup, învăluit într-o omletă fină și cremoasă, decorată cu sos și ceapă verde proaspătă.
Preparation method
Ingredient preparation
Cook the rice according to the package instructions and let it cool slightly (or use cold, pre-cooked rice, which is ideal for frying). Cut the chicken breast into small cubes of about 1 cm, and finely chop the yellow onion.
Finely slice the spring onion intended for the final garnish. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper until fully combined.
Cooking the chicken rice
Heat 15 ml of sunflower oil and 15 g of butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped yellow onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
Chef's tip
For best results, use cooled rice or day-old cooked rice — the grains will absorb the sauce without becoming mushy.
Do not overcook the omelette; the traditional Japanese texture should remain soft and silky on the inside.
